Why Our Services Are Needed
North Carolina faces significant challenges when it comes to dental care access. Approximately 30% of residents over the age of 65 have no natural teeth, and the state has more than twice the national rate of costly emergency room dental visits. Unfortunately, these visits often address pain but not the root causes of dental distress, leaving patients without long-term solutions.
Untreated oral infections and decay often result in serious health complications, including diabetes and stroke. Despite these public health risks, only 45% of North Carolina dentists accept Medicaid. Local Start Dental addresses this gap, providing much-needed care to underserved populations.

Our vision is to be a state-of-the-art dental treatment and training center focused on providing high-quality tooth replacement services for all adults. This includes veterans, the elderly, and low-income or impoverished individuals throughout the Triangle, with the goal of expanding across North Carolina. Through innovative solutions and a commitment to compassionate care, we aim to make advanced dental services accessible to those who need it most.
