After a brief slow down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Local Start Dental’s campaign to raise $2.37 million for clinic construction and start-up operations is back on! To date, we have received more than $1.07 million in actual and pledged commitments of cash and equipment.

The Local Start board is also pleased to welcome two new members, Dr. Vincent Allison, III and Dr. Desiree Palmer, both of whom are dental practitioners in Durham.

Making Progress!
The Willard Street affordable apartment building, at 370 Jackson Street, Durham, is under construction and we should be able to start upfitting the clinic in early 2021.

We are excited to be finalizing the clinic design, preparing to undertake a search for an Executive Director, and meeting with partner agencies in the community to begin structuring a process for patient referrals.

“There is so much unmet need for affordable dental care in Durham. The limitation is not demand, but resources.”
